Istanbul is roughly a four hour flight from London and is served from most large UK airports, several of them direct. That matters more than it sounds: a short flight means the return leg, ten days after surgery with a tender scalp, is tolerable in a way the Australian equivalent is not.

Turkish clinics commonly quote UK patients in pounds and then invoice in euros or lira. Your bank sets the conversion on the day you pay, so a quote agreed in March can settle differently in June. If the figure matters to your budget, ask for the invoice currency in writing and pay on a card that does not add a foreign transaction fee.
