Turkey against the USA for a hair transplant

Summary

The United States is the most expensive market we hold figures for, which makes the arithmetic simple and moves the decision onto the journey rather than the price.

1. The comparison.

Indicative figures in US dollars. The The United States column is a typical private-practice quote, not a surveyed median.
ProcedureTurkeyThe United StatesDifference
FUE, 2,500 grafts$2,350$15,000up to 75% less
Sapphire FUE, 2,500 grafts$2,650$16,000up to 75% less
DHI, 2,500 grafts$3,050$17,000up to 75% less
Beard transplant, 2,000 grafts$2,150$12,000up to 75% less

We cap a printed saving at 75% even where the arithmetic exceeds it. Both columns are indicative midpoints rather than surveyed medians.

2. Why the gap is this large.

Surgeon time, nursing and theatre overheads in Turkey are a fraction of the United States, and Turkish clinics run high case volumes against that lower cost base. The follicle does not change; the hour around it does.

Volume also explains the practice that most distinguishes the two markets. Turkish law permits technicians to carry out extraction and implantation under supervision, which is uncommon in the United States and is the single most useful thing to ask about before booking.

3. What the Turkish figure leaves out.

Flights both ways, a fourth hotel night if anything runs long, a second session if your plan needs one, revision work, medication past the first ten days, and ten to fourteen days when your scalp looks obviously operated on.

Add those before comparing. Even with all of them the gap stays large, which is why the honest argument for travelling is the size of the difference rather than any claim about superior care.

Common questions

How much cheaper is Turkey than the United States?

On published pricing for a 2,500 graft FUE, up to 75% less, before flights.

Is the quality the same?

Quality varies by clinic in both markets. The structural difference is who performs the surgery, which is worth asking in writing.

Is any of it covered by insurance?

Pattern hair loss is treated as cosmetic in both markets and is not covered. Reconstruction after trauma can be, case by case.
