Does Medicare cover dental work done overseas?
Medicare does not cover dental treatment performed outside Australia, whether domestic or abroad. However, some Australian private health funds may provide partial rebates for certain dental procedures performed overseas. Check with your insurer before travelling. Regardless, the savings from dental tourism (typically 60–80%) far exceed any rebate you'd receive at home.
Can my Australian dentist access my treatment records?
Yes. Every Tressari partner clinic provides complete digital treatment records including X-rays, treatment notes, and material certificates. These are emailed to you in standard format that any Australian dental practice can read.
What if something goes wrong after I return to Australia?
All Tressari partner clinics offer written warranties on their work (typically 5–10 years for implants, 5 years for crowns and veneers) honoured directly by the treating clinic. Tressari coordinates warranty claims and return-visit logistics on your behalf, but travel costs for warranty visits are the patient's responsibility. For minor adjustments, your Australian dentist can handle them locally using the treatment records provided.
Do I need a visa to travel for dental work?
Australians need a Vietnam e-visa (US$25 single-entry, up to 90 days), applied for online at evisa.gov.vn and issued within 3–5 business days. Thailand (up to 60 days) and Indonesia (30 days on arrival) are visa-free or visa-on-arrival. No special medical visa is required for dental treatment.
How long do I need to stay for dental implants?
Most implant procedures require 7–10 days for the initial phase. If your treatment includes a permanent prosthetic (e.g., All-on-4), you may need a second visit of 3–5 days after 4–6 months for the final fitting. Some clinics offer same-day permanent teeth protocols.
Is it safe to fly after dental surgery?
You can fly 24–48 hours after most dental procedures. For surgical extractions or bone grafting, we recommend waiting 3–5 days. Your dentist will advise based on your specific procedure. Cabin pressure changes do not affect dental implants or crowns.
What materials do the clinics use? Are they the same as Australia?
Tressari partner clinics use the same global brands as Australian practices: Straumann and Nobel Biocare implants, IPS E.max and BruxZir crowns, 3M and Ivoclar bonding materials. Material certificates are provided with every treatment.
Can I combine dental work with a holiday?
Absolutely. Most Australian patients build 3–5 leisure days into their trip. Vietnam offers beaches in Da Nang and Phu Quoc, street food tours in Hanoi and HCMC, and Ha Long Bay cruises. Thailand offers islands, temples, and Bangkok nightlife. We can help plan your itinerary around treatment schedules.
What about follow-up appointments?
Tressari schedules virtual check-ins at 30, 90, and 365 days post-treatment via WhatsApp video call. Your clinic reviews healing progress remotely. If an in-person visit is needed, it can be done at any Tressari partner clinic or coordinated with your local Australian dentist.
How do I pay?
Clinics accept Australian bank transfers, Visa, Mastercard, and cash (AUD, USD, or local currency). Quotes are provided in AUD. Payment is made directly to the clinic. Tressari does not charge patients any fees.
