Does U.S. health insurance or Medicare cover dental work done overseas?
Medicare does not cover routine dental treatment — domestic or abroad. Most U.S. private dental plans also exclude international treatment, though a handful of PPO plans offer limited out-of-network rebates. Regardless, the savings from dental tourism (typically 70–85%) far exceed any rebate you'd receive at home. Use an HSA or FSA where eligible — many plans reimburse qualifying dental expenses including travel-related care.
Can my U.S. dentist access my treatment records?
Yes. Every Tressari partner clinic provides complete digital treatment records including X-rays, treatment notes, and material certificates. These are emailed to you in standard DICOM/PDF format that any U.S. dental practice can read and import into their system.
What if something goes wrong after I return to the U.S.?
All Tressari partner clinics offer written warranties (typically 5–10 years for implants, 5 years for crowns and veneers) honoured directly by the treating clinic. Tressari coordinates warranty claims and return-visit logistics on your behalf, but travel costs for warranty visits are the patient's responsibility. For minor adjustments, your U.S. dentist can handle them locally using the treatment records provided.
Do I need a visa to travel for dental work?
Americans can enter Thailand (60 days), Colombia (90 days), and Mexico (180 days) visa-free. Vietnam requires a simple US$25 online e-visa (valid up to 90 days) applied for at evisa.gov.vn and issued within 3–5 business days. No medical or dental-specific visa is required anywhere.
How long do I need to stay for dental implants?
Most implant procedures require 7–10 days for the initial phase. If your treatment includes a permanent prosthetic (e.g., All-on-4), you may need a second visit of 3–5 days after 4–6 months for the final fitting. Some clinics offer same-day permanent teeth protocols that complete treatment in a single visit.
Is it safe to fly after dental surgery?
You can fly 24–48 hours after most dental procedures. For surgical extractions, implant placement, or bone grafting, we recommend waiting 3–5 days. Your dentist will advise based on your specific procedure. Cabin pressure changes do not affect dental implants or crowns.
What materials do the clinics use? Are they FDA-approved?
Tressari partner clinics use the same global brands as U.S. practices: Straumann and Nobel Biocare implants (both FDA-cleared), IPS E.max and BruxZir crowns, 3M and Ivoclar bonding materials. Material certificates with batch numbers are provided with every treatment.
Can I combine dental work with a vacation?
Absolutely. Most U.S. patients build 3–7 leisure days into their trip. Vietnam offers beaches (Da Nang, Phu Quoc), street food tours (HCMC, Hanoi), and Ha Long Bay. Thailand has islands, temples, and Bangkok's nightlife. Colombia's Cartagena and Mexico's Yucatán are favorites. We'll help plan your itinerary around treatment schedules.
What about follow-up appointments?
Tressari schedules virtual check-ins at 30, 90, and 365 days post-treatment via WhatsApp video call. Your clinic reviews healing progress remotely. If an in-person visit is needed, it can be done at any Tressari partner clinic or coordinated with your U.S. dentist.
How do I pay? Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Clinics accept U.S. bank transfers, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and cash (USD or local currency). Quotes are provided in USD. Many HSA/FSA plans allow reimbursement for qualifying dental procedures performed abroad — save all receipts and documentation. Payment is made directly to the clinic. Tressari does not charge patients any fees.
