Do Scandinavian national health systems cover hair transplant work done overseas?
Swedish Försäkringskassan, Norwegian HELFO, Danish CPR-coverage, and Finnish Kela do not cover elective hair transplant abroad. Adult hair transplant is only partially covered at home — Norway and Sweden reimburse limited treatment annually, Finland offers subsidised public hair transplant, and Denmark offers partial coverage through sygesikring. The EU Cross-Border Healthcare Directive can reimburse a small portion of EU-based hair transplant if pre-authorised. Regardless, Tressari savings (typically 70–85%) far exceed any national reimbursement.
Can my Scandinavian surgeon access my treatment records?
Yes. Every Tressari partner clinic provides complete digital treatment records including X-rays, treatment notes, and material certificates in standard DICOM/PDF format. Any Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, or Finnish hair transplant clinic can read and import these.
What if something goes wrong after I return home?
All Tressari partner clinics offer written warranties (typically 5–10 years for implants, 5 years for grafts and DHI) honoured directly by the treating clinic. Tressari coordinates warranty claims and return-visit logistics on your behalf, but travel costs for warranty visits are the patient's responsibility. Minor adjustments can be handled locally by your Scandinavian surgeon using the treatment records provided.
Do I need a visa to travel for hair transplant work?
Swedish, Danish, Finnish, and Norwegian passport holders now enjoy visa-free entry to Vietnam for up to 45 days (policy extended through 2028). They also travel visa-free throughout the EU/Schengen zone (including Hungary) and to Turkey (90 days). For longer Vietnam stays, apply for the 90-day e-visa (US$25) online at evisa.gov.vn. No medical or hair transplant-specific visa is required.
How long do I need to stay for hair grafts?
Most implant procedures require 7–10 days for the initial phase. If your treatment includes a permanent prosthetic (e.g., FUE), you may need a second visit of 3–5 days after 4–6 months. Some clinics offer same-day permanent hair protocols.
Is it safe to fly after hair transplant surgery?
You can fly 24–48 hours after most hair transplant procedures. For surgical extractions, implant placement, or bone grafting, we recommend waiting 3–5 days. Cabin pressure changes do not affect hair grafts or grafts.
What materials do the clinics use? Are they CE-marked?
Tressari partner clinics use the same global brands as Scandinavian practices: Straumann and Nobel Biocare implants (CE-marked), IPS E.max and Sapphire grafts, 3M and Ivoclar bonding materials. Material certificates with batch numbers are provided with every treatment.
Can I combine hair transplant work with a holiday?
Absolutely. Budapest combines with Vienna or Prague, Istanbul with Cappadocia, Vietnam with Phu Quoc or Ha Long Bay. Many Scandinavians treat hair transplant trips as a winter escape. We'll help plan your itinerary around treatment schedules.
What about follow-up appointments?
Tressari schedules virtual check-ins at 30, 90, and 365 days post-treatment via WhatsApp video call. Your clinic reviews healing progress remotely. If an in-person visit is needed, it can be done at any Tressari partner clinic or coordinated with your local surgeon.
How do I pay?
Clinics accept SEPA bank transfers, Visa, Mastercard, and cash (EUR, USD, or local currency). Quotes are in EUR by default with SEK, NOK, or DKK available on request. Payment is made directly to the clinic. Tressari does not charge patients any fees.
